Easy to Make Nesting Boxes for Chickens - Chicken Egg Laying Boxes - Chicken Egg Production

http://beckyshomestead.com/chicken-nesting-box-plans There are a lot of different designs and options out there for chicken nest boxes. I wanted to design one ...

in this video I'm going to show you how

to make the EZ nest box your chickens want a nice place to lay eggs and they will love this nest box design you'll need an 18 gallon tote a Sharpie a piece of paper and a utility knife start with a sheet of paper fold it in half then fold it in half again now the sheet of paper is folded into quarters fold down one of the quarters so you have three fourths of a sheet left this is going to be the size of the door the perfect size for a chicken you can see the line on the tub that marks the bottom I'm going to put the door above that line right about here make sure you put the door in the same spot as me take the sharpie and trace the hole for the door there you go we have the door marked now we're just going to cut it out next use the utility knife to cut out the door go slow and be careful you don't want to cut too far I found out that if you score around the edges with the knife first doing a shallow cut then go back and do a deeper cut it comes out better now just fill up your nest box with hay

maybe that's too much now you have a great nest box that was super easy to make and best of all your chickens will love it you just take the lid off and get the eggs out super easy if you want you can also make three easy nest boxes and screw them to a 2x8 to make a bigger nest box unit you'll need three 18 gallon totes a piece of paper a Sharpie a utility knife a screwdriver 12 washers 3/16 by 3/4 size one inch screws and 1/2 by 8x8 start by cutting out the doors on the three nest boxes next put them on the 2 by 8 and move them so they're spaced apart nicely screw down each nest box use four screws and four washers on each one for the sake of time I'm not going to show me putting in every screw but this is what it should look like when you're done put some hay in your nest boxes and now you're all set this setup is great if you have about 20 chickens see now that's why it's good we have the other two cuz she's hogging this one she has landed sign up for Becky's homestead newsletter go to Becky's homestead comm and sign up on the right you'll get articles news and specials from Becky
